Galway FA O35s rules 2021

  1. O35s for 2021 will be exclusively for players who are not registered on FAInet for the current winter season 2020-2021
  2. Players must register on FAINet and provide photo ID if they are a first issue.
  3. No transfers can be allowed, since Covid has made transfers unworkable.
  4. Matches are mid-week, every week, normally Wednesdays.
  5. Roll-on, roll-off, unlimited substitutions, 45 minutes a side.
  6. Both teams come to an agreement for every group game, as long as they are played that week.
  7. Referee will be appointed for all games.
  8. Home teams pay for referee, fee is €50 per game.
  9. Clubs need to arrange their own insurance for players.

FYI: This is the eight year of O35s in Galway. Last year in Feb-20, we had 18 teams entered across 2 divisions; which was destroyed due to Covid. We were able to run a much smaller league with 5 teams that started in July and finished in Sept with a final in EDP.

Covid influence 2021

  1. Covid has a major influence on what we can do this year for O35s.
  2. Transfer periods unfortunately do not allow Junior players to take part in O35s for 2021.
  3. Therefore, O35s for 2021 will be exclusively for players who are not registered on FAInet for the current winter season 2020-2021.
  4. Junior football for winter season must finish by July 18th as per FAI directive, which means that O35s can start the week commencing 19th July 2021.
